October 2026 Semiconductor Jobs and Hiring Roundup

October’s reports used data from our job index to look at where semiconductor companies were hiring, what they were paying and what their postings showed about new fabs, AI infrastructure and company priorities.

Texas and new fabs

Texas had 2,278 active semiconductor postings, including 1,457 in Austin. Other reports looked at Samsung’s second Taylor fab and GlobalFoundries’ planned expansion in Malta, New York.

Equipment and manufacturing

Applied Materials, Lam Research and KLA had 4,508 active postings worldwide and 1,806 in the US. Across the wider US market, equipment suppliers accounted for 63% of manufacturing and equipment engineering postings in our job index.

AI, packaging and storage

The packaging reports showed Micron’s large share of HBM and advanced packaging work, along with the split between design and manufacturing jobs. Other reports covered AI inside EDA workflows and hiring at Western Digital and Sandisk.

Company hiring and senior roles

Qualcomm still had 2,173 active postings while preparing for layoffs. Tenstorrent listed 127 positions after raising $1.5 billion. Another report looked at senior US positions that had remained open or been reposted.

Salaries and internships

Of 6,819 US postings with published salaries, 2,091 listed ranges reaching $250,000 or more. The internship report covered 2,680 active internship and co-op postings worldwide.

Much of the hiring was outside pure chip design. Equipment, process, packaging, test, firmware and manufacturing jobs accounted for many of the largest concentrations. The highest published salaries remained concentrated in architecture, AI hardware and senior design work.
