About the role
This internship role focuses on UWB Radar Modem engineering, combining signal processing, ML, algorithm development, simulation, experimental validation, and real-hardware prototyping. The position is based on-site in Irvine, California.
What you'll do
- Research, develop, and evaluate signal-processing and ML algorithms for UWB Radar applications. - Build simulation, algorithm-development, and data-analysis tools. - Design and conduct laboratory experiments, collect radar measurements, and analyze system performance. - Develop tools for measurement automation, data collection, and chip/system validation. - Prototype and demonstrate new sensing capabilities using real-world radar data and hardware. - Document results and communicate findings through technical reports, presentations, and demonstrations.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. - Foundation in digital signal processing, signals and systems, communication theory, linear algebra, probability, or related areas. - Programming experience with Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar languages. - Ability to translate mathematical concepts into simulations and working implementations. - Returning to school or graduating at the conclusion of the summer internship term.
Nice to have
- Machine learning applied to sensing or signal-processing problems. - Embedded or real-time signal-processing implementation. - Laboratory measurements, RF test equipment, or hardware experimentation. - Research, coursework, or technical projects in signal processing, radar, wireless systems, sensing, machine learning, localization, or related areas.
