Testing electromechanical relays using DMMs, oscilloscopes, and HIPOT test equipment.
About the role
The Technician II-Product/Test performs electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing of electromechanical relays in support of production, qualification, and reliability programs. This role operates test equipment and identifies nonconformances for power management products used in aerospace, defense, and space applications.
What you'll do
- Perform production and qualification testing of electromechanical relays according to Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), Work Instructions (WI), and engineering specifications. - Set up and operate relay test equipment, including Digital Multimeters (DMM), DC power supplies, oscilloscopes, Relay Functional Test Systems, HIPOT Test Equipment, and Insulation Resistance Test Equipment. - Execute electrical testing, including coil resistance, pick up and drop out voltage, dielectric, and diode checks, while conducting visual inspections before and after test sequences. - Accurately record test results, failures, and observations in manufacturing documentation and electronic databases, escalating nonconforming hardware to engineering and quality management. - Verify test equipment calibration status and maintain workstations adhering to ESD, electrical safety, and 6S principles. - Assist senior technicians and engineers with test setup, failure analysis, basic fixture troubleshooting, and engineering evaluations.
What you'll need
- High School Diploma or GED. - Basic understanding of electrical fundamentals, including voltage, current, resistance, and Ohm's law. - Ability to read basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. - Familiarity with standard electronic test equipment. - Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, maintain manual dexterity for small components, and distinguish wire colors and component markings. - Compliance with U.S. Export Controls requirements as a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
Nice to have
- Associate degree or technical certificate in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field. - 2-3 years of experience in electronics testing, manufacturing, or aerospace production, particularly with electromechanical relays or electrical assemblies. - Experience working in an aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing environment. - Knowledge of IPC workmanship standards and familiarity with ESD control procedures. - Experience performing vibration, thermal cycling, and reliability testing. - Basic understanding of relay construction and operation.
