About the role
You will serve as the technical program leader for large-scale compute clusters across their full lifecycle, spanning bring-up and delivery through sustained operation and administration.
What you'll do
- Lead cluster bring-up from concept and planning through delivery, coordinating cross-functional teams across hardware, infrastructure, software, firmware, validation, and datacenter operations.
- Develop and maintain integrated program plans, schedules, statements of work, budgets, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to align milestones with delivery objectives.
- Define and enforce acceptance criteria and exit gates required before clusters transition from bring-up into production service.
- Own cluster availability and utilization targets in production, establishing operating cadences including maintenance windows, change management, and downtime planning.
- Establish on-call rotations, escalation coverage, incident response workflows, and post-incident reviews to track preventive actions to closure.
- Oversee cluster administration functions, including workload scheduling and queue policy, node and partition configuration, and image stack management.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Formal project management education, Project Management Professional (PMP), Scrum Master, or equivalent certification/training.
- Proven experience leading and coordinating cross-functional technical teams through multi-stage cluster bring-up, integration, or infrastructure deployment efforts.
- Experience establishing or managing operational disciplines such as incident and change management, maintenance planning, and post-incident review.
- Strong proficiency with project and productivity tools, including Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Nice to have
- Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) and high performance computing (HPC) cluster builds through sustained production operation.
- Working familiarity with cluster administration concepts, including workload schedulers such as Slurm or Kubernetes, node provisioning and imaging, fabric and interconnect health, and fleet monitoring.
- People-management experience.
- Experience in Agile development environments.

How we counted: 3882 open Semiconductor Equipment Engineering (Manufacturing Equipment) roles from 87 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 4 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
