About the role
Cohu is seeking a Senior Quality Specialist to ensure product quality and compliance through mechanical inspection, CMM programming, quality auditing, and cross-functional problem-solving. This on-site role operates on the first shift in San Diego, inspecting fabricated materials and supporting manufacturing quality processes.
What you'll do
- Program DCC Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and inspect fabricated materials for conformance to specifications.
- Prepare measurement set-ups utilizing precision measuring instruments, optical comparators, and standard hand tools.
- Report inspection findings to the Machine Shop, Engineering, and Inspection Supervisor, and provide input on non-conforming material disposition.
- Conduct data collection, generate quality reports, and perform internal quality audits.
- Provide work leadership and technical guidance to lower-level employees.
What you'll need
- Eight years of mechanical inspection experience.
- Two years of CMM programming experience, preferably with PC DMIS.
- Working knowledge of ANSI Y-14.5 M, geometric tolerancing (GD&T), and shop mathematics.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and quality assurance standards.
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments including surface plates, protractors, micrometers, and gauges.
- High school education and specialized quality education courses.
