About the role
This internship role involves working on the development, analysis, testing, and improvement of semiconductor equipment and subsystems within the Hardware Engineering team. You will work as a mechanical design engineer focusing on critical chamber hardware for capital equipment product lines.
What you'll do
- Support mechanical design and development activities for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and related hardware.
- Create and modify 3D CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Design and execute engineering experiments, collect and analyze data, and present findings to project teams.
- Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
- Conduct root cause investigations and support failure analysis efforts.
- Contribute to design reviews and recommend improvements for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Good academic standing.
- Availability for a full-time internship during the designated summer internship period.
- Demonstrated interest in product design, mechanical systems, and semiconductor manufacturing technologies.
Nice to have
- Fundamentals of mechanics, materials, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and machine design.
- Experience with CAD software such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar platforms.
- Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and engineering simulation tools.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, or data analytics.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
