Staff Software Engineer (Mobile Android)

About the role

This role involves defining and leading feature development and commercialization across the Android Stack, Core Platform, and SDKs.

What you'll do

- Design, develop, and implement embedded and on-device software modules and systems. - Lead complex technical and product efforts involving multiple engineers. - Analyze user needs, software requirements, and constraints to build and customize software for operational efficiency. - Participate in and lead design, coding, unit testing, debugging, integration efforts, and complex code reviews. - Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineers to ensure software operates with external project components. - Write detailed technical documentation for complex software projects and provide mentorship to team members.

What you'll need

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with 4+ years of software engineering experience (or Master's with 3+ years, or PhD with 2+ years). - 2+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.

Nice to have

- 7 years of experience or expertise using C++, Java, or Rust to ship software at scale. - Solid understanding of operating system concepts, concurrency, interfaces, data structures, and algorithms. - Familiarity with ARM processors, mobile SoC architecture, hypervisor/virtualization, security, and memory. - Experience with embedded Linux and/or Android OS, SDK/NDK, HALs, Treble, and mobile memory management. - Experience with Git, release engineering, and CI/CD environments. - Exposure to SDK development, API design, open-source projects, standards bodies, or external partner collaboration.
