About the role
This role focuses on platform power design and distribution for System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures within Arm's Packaging, Boards and Multiphysics team. The work centers on developing hardware platform prototypes to validate and demonstrate Arm IP products.
What you'll do
- Define board power architectures and power trees, selecting VR components to meet efficiency, transient response, voltage ripple, and system requirements. - Design and optimize DC-DC solutions, including multi-phase converters, VRMs, and PMICs. - Perform simulation and analysis of board-level power delivery networks (PDN) using tools such as SIMPLIS, SPICE, PowerDC, and Ansys SIWave. - Develop schematics and review PCB layouts to ensure robust power delivery, power integrity, and parasitic reduction. - Validate and debug power solutions in the lab using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers, and load slammers. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, thermal, layout, and SI/PI engineers on layout optimization, telemetry, thermal, and EMI/EMC requirements.
What you'll need
- 8+ years of experience in power distribution and design. - Proficiency in DC-DC converter topologies (buck, boost, multiphase), PWM controllers, MOSFETs, power stages, and telemetry interfaces (PMBus, SMBus, AVSBus). - Experience with power simulation tools including SIMPLIS, SPICE, PowerDC, and Ansys SIWave. - Strong knowledge of PCB layout considerations for power circuits and power delivery network (PDN) / power integrity (PI) analysis. - Experience with dynamic load testing/slamming techniques and lab equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power integrity test setups. - Understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and thermal management solutions for high-power-density systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with MCU or FPGA-based prototyping. - Scripting or automation experience using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools.

How we counted: 1022 open Hardware Systems Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 100 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 28 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
