About the role
This role leads PCB and IC substrate manufacturing process development for RF product applications. You will collaborate with suppliers to develop new substrate technologies and qualify materials from initial concept through high volume manufacturing.
What you'll do
- Interface between design teams and the worldwide supply base to create technology roadmaps for future products.
- Develop, qualify, and support clean launch of new PCB material sets, design rules, capabilities, and suppliers.
- Design material and surface finish evaluations using screening tests and design of experiments (DOE) to improve RF performance, MSL rating, cost, or size.
- Utilize program management methodology to plan, execute, and monitor process and product development projects.
- Travel to PCB suppliers to deliver technical support for technology development, supplier qualification, and root-cause problem resolution.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Chemistry or Engineering disciplines.
- 5+ years of experience in PCB manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of education and advanced degree.
- Industry experience with PCB manufacturing processes, including via drill, Cu pattern plating, panel plating, and surface finishes.
- Understanding of IPC laminate/PCB standards, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and design rule development for high-volume manufacturing.
- Proficiency using SPC techniques, DOE, and structured problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC or 8D.
- Experience with PCB design software such as Altium, KiCAD, or Cadence.
Nice to have
- Familiarity across assembly and packaging technologies and materials, including SMT, Die Attach, Wire Bond / Flip Chip, Molding, and multi-layer laminates.
