About the role
AMD is hiring an SMTS Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing. The role leads architecture design, logic design, module interface definition, and the development of multidimensional designs involving complex integrated circuits.
What you'll do
- Lead definition, design, verification, and documentation for ASIC development, determining architecture design, logic design, and system simulation.
- Define module interfaces and formats for simulation, leading the development of multidimensional designs involving complex integrated circuit layout.
- Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, timing, and power use.
- Work with cross-functional engineering teams to develop ASIC and layout designs, resolving complex technical issues and driving projects of significant importance.
- Apply engineering principles, best practices, and electronics knowledge across circuit boards, processors, and chips to develop and test AMD products.
What you'll need
- Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 7 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience.
- 5 years of experience in RTL design and coding using Verilog, VHDL, and System Verilog.
- 5 years of experience creating microarchitecture specifications, as well as working with SOC and system architecture.
- 5 years of experience in logic and circuit design, low power design, and post silicon debugging.
- 5 years of experience in hardware verification, functional behavior models, and ASIC design and design flows and methodologies used for chip verification.

How we counted: 1084 open Digital/RTL Design (RTL Design) roles from 103 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 6 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Digital Design & Verification family row.
