Silicon Photonics Process Integration Engineer
About the role
Apple's Biophotonics team is seeking a Silicon Photonics Process Integration Engineer to join its silicon photonics group. The role focuses on multidisciplinary engineering for silicon photonic integrated circuits from front-end fabrication through post-fab processing.
What you'll do
- Execute hands-on engineering to develop and integrate silicon photonic integrated circuits.
- Plan and run design of experiments (DOE) and analyze semiconductor process data across build cycles.
- Coordinate process flows spanning front-end fabrication, wafer thinning, singulation, and packaging.
- Interface directly with external fabs, vendors, and cleanroom facilities to keep technical programs on track.
What you'll need
- BS in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
Nice to have
- PhD (or MS with equivalent research experience) in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Hands-on cleanroom fabrication experience, such as lithography, thin-film deposition, etch, and metrology.
- Research background in photonic devices or integrated photonics.
- Familiarity with semiconductor process integration, from front-end fabrication through post-fab processes such as wafer thinning, singulation, or packaging.
- Experience designing experiments (DOE) and analyzing process data.
- Experience working with external fabs, vendors, or shared cleanroom facilities.
