About the role
This position is for the optics Data Center Interconnect (DCI) Firmware team, which develops embedded software for high speed coherent fiber transceivers moving data between data centers worldwide. Responsibilities include product requirement definition, feature and device driver development, application and API development, testing, and issue debugging.
What you'll do
- Evaluate and define DCI product firmware feature requirements. - Design, implement, and optimize DCI firmware features to ensure reusability across products. - Perform failure analysis using lab tools and equipment to identify, duplicate, and fix issues. - Collaborate across application, project management, DVT, hardware, and architecture teams on requirements, performance, schematics review, and standards.
What you'll need
- Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical fields. - 7+ years of experience in memory constrained embedded system development. - 5+ years of experience in firmware development on device drivers and peripherals including I2C, I3C, and SPI. - Strong programming skills using C and Python, alongside experience with RTOS. - Understanding of embedded SoC and micro-controller architecture, memory-mapped hardware interfaces, GPIOs, and ISRs. - Comprehension of hardware design schematics and familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
Nice to have
- Experience with optical transceivers, coherent DSP, laser, optical components, and PID control. - Experience with developing and debugging Linux device drivers, software state machines, context saving, and error handling. - Knowledge of OIF CMIS, OSFP, SFP, optics, git, Makefile, gdb, IDEs, and bash. - Understanding of signal processing concepts such as histograms, BER, SNR, sampling phase, Shannon limit, impulse and frequency response, and FFT. - Familiarity with RISC-V architecture.
