About the role
This role involves the design and development of analog integrated circuits for Allegro's motor driver and power management products. The Senior Principal Analog Design Engineer will be responsible for the full lifecycle of analog IC development, from concept to silicon validation.
What you'll do
- Lead the architectural definition, design, simulation, and layout supervision of motor driver/power management integrated circuit sub-blocks (HS/LS gate drivers, amplifiers, charge pumps, bandgap references, regulators, ADCs, DACs, serial interfaces, diagnostics).
- Drive the definition of analog circuit blocks based on system-level requirements and specifications.
- Perform detailed transistor-level circuit design, including schematic capture, simulation (e.g., Spectre, HSPICE), and verification using advanced EDA tools.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-silicon verification, including corner simulations, Monte Carlo analysis, noise analysis, and reliability checks.
- Participate in silicon bring-up, characterization, and debugging.
- Mentor junior and staff engineers.
What you'll need
- Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in analog IC design with successful product tape-outs.
- Deep expertise in the design of various analog building blocks, such as gate drivers, amplifiers, charge pumps, bandgap references, regulators, ADCs, DACs, and serial interfaces.
- Extensive experience with Cadence design tools (Virtuoso, Spectre, ADE-XL) and strong proficiency in analog simulation and verification methodologies.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics, process technologies (e.g., BCD, CMOS).
- Experience with motor driver IC and power management ICs.
Nice to have
- Experience with automotive qualification standards (e.g., AEC-Q100).
- Familiarity with functional safety concepts (e.g., ISO 26262).
- Experience with mixed-signal verification methodologies.
- Proficiency in leveraging AI and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) for design automation and data analysis.
- Prior experience in a principal or lead design role.
