About the role
This Senior Packaging Engineer role focuses on analyzing and optimizing product design, processes, machinery, materials, and measurement methodologies for packaging. This position involves direct evaluation of Solid-State Drive (SSD) assembly processes, including fixture design and product qualification.
What you'll do
- Conduct commonality analyses across product design, processes, machinery, materials, and measurement methodologies.
- Design and implement Design of Experiments (DOEs) and apply statistical analysis methods.
- Execute factory Design for Mechanical Assembly and Automation (DFMA) evaluations for Solid-State Drive (SSD) assembly.
- Design SSD assembly jigs/fixtures, including new concepts, reverse engineering, and mechanical drawings.
- Oversee Product Qualification Packages development, including specifications, packaging requirements, mechanical drawings, and DFM guidelines.
- Lead specialized engineering characterization activities and cost reduction projects.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
- 3-8 years of professional engineering experience in the semiconductor and automation industry.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Expertise in synthesizing and presenting complex design concepts and data sets, specifically designing and executing Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Advanced proficiency in quality management tools (FMEA, 8D, DMAIC) and statistical analysis software (JMP, Minitab).
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
- Extensive hands-on experience with technical equipment and processes, including advanced metrology and failure analysis techniques.
Nice to have
- Comprehensive understanding of common mechanical commodities including metals, plastics, rubbers, and adhesives.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling construction for mechanical commodities, including CNC milling, stamping, bending, injection molding, die casting, and extrusion.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks Flow Simulation.
