About the role
The Data Center Solutions (DCS) Business Unit within Microchip is seeking an Applications Engineer to provide technical support to customers for enterprise-class storage products across their development and production lifecycles. This role focuses on solutions utilizing RAID, Security, PCIe, NVMe, SAS, SATA, SDRAM, NAND, and CXL technologies.
What you'll do
- Support, manage, and resolve technical issues related to DCS hardware and firmware/software products.
- Debug firmware, software, and protocol-level issues for enterprise storage devices.
- Work with customer and cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle, from requirements gathering to post-production support.
- Develop and maintain customer collaterals including Firmware User Manuals, Quick Start Guides, Release Notes, Errata, and Application Notes.
- Conduct feasibility studies, investigations, proofs of concept, and prototyping for new products.
- Travel up to 25% within North America and internationally to deliver on-site customer support or attend technical meetings.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in CE, CSE, or EE with 5 to 7.5 years of experience in firmware development of storage or communication products, or AI/ML tools development.
- Strong firmware and embedded systems development and debug skills.
- Experience in the design, development, and testing of firmware using the C language.
- Experience developing debug tools using scripting languages such as Java, TCL/TK, PERL, or Python.
- Working knowledge or experience with SoC Architecture.
- Prior customer-facing technical experience.
