About the role
As Robotics Engineering Lead, you will own the automation of targeted manufacturing processes from concept to production on the factory floor. You will lead the integration of collaborative robots (cobots) for assembly, handling, and test tasks, while deploying autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for intelligent material movement.
What you'll do
- Identify and prioritize manufacturing processes for automation, establishing both the business and technical case. - Design, program, integrate, and commission collaborative robots (cobots) for assembly, material handling, machine tending, inspection, and test. - Deploy and integrate autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for material movement, covering route planning, fleet coordination, and workstation hand-offs. - Own end-to-end delivery spanning requirements, concept design, simulation, build, FAT/SAT, validation, and production hand-off. - Integrate robots, sensors, vision systems, and end-effectors with existing factory equipment and production lines. - Partner with the safety team to conduct risk assessments and ensure all robot and mobile robot deployments meet safety requirements.
What you'll need
- Bachelor, Master or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry research experience). - 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or robotics, including deploying systems in a live manufacturing or production environment. - Strong mix of both software and mechanical engineering skills. - Hands-on experience programming and integrating collaborative robots (such as Universal Robots or similar) along with end-effectors, grippers, and vision. - Experience with AMRs and material-handling automation, including factory floor deployment and integration. - Experience with cobot simulation and offline programming tools to validate cell layouts, cycle times, and reachability prior to physical deployment.
Nice to have
- Experience with ROS / ROS 2 and robot simulation or digital-twin tools (e.g., RobotStudio, RoboDK, or vendor equivalents). - Familiarity with 2D/3D machine vision, force/torque control, and pick-and-place applications. - AMR fleet management and integration with warehouse / manufacturing execution systems. - Experience in electronics or precision, high-mix / low-volume manufacturing. - Proficiency with CAD (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for tooling and layout. - Working knowledge of machine safety standards and risk assessment for robotic and collaborative applications (e.g., ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066, ISO 12100, ISO 13849).

How we counted: 2527 open Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering (Manufacturing Equipment) roles from 80 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 20 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
