Reliability testing, hardware test board design, and qualification for Gallium Nitride (GaN) and Silicon Carbide (SiC) devices.
About the role
The Reliability Lab Engineer supports reliability testing, device qualification, and lab operations for Wide Bandgap semiconductor technologies, specifically Gallium Nitride (GaN) and Silicon Carbide (SiC). In this hands-on role, you will design test circuits, boards, and platforms, operate stress test equipment, and analyze stress data for power semiconductors.
What you'll do
- Design and develop custom test circuits, load boards, and hardware test platforms tailored for the reliability testing of GaN and SiC devices. - Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot reliability lab stress tools, including HTOL, ELFR, HAST, and high-voltage/high-temperature testing equipment. - Execute stress test protocols to evaluate device reliability, ruggedness, and long-term electrical stability. - Collect, clean, and analyze test data using statistical analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, JMP) to identify failure mechanisms and degradation trends. - Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development Engineering (PDE), design, process, and quality teams to support root-cause analysis and corrective actions. - Maintain documentation of test setups, run logs, calibration records, and equipment maintenance in compliance with JEDEC, AEC, and AQG industry standards.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field. - 1–3 years of experience in semiconductor reliability testing, test hardware design, failure analysis, or device characterization. - Proficiency in PCB design and schematic capture tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence, OrCAD) for test board development. - Understanding of semiconductor physics, power electronics, and reliability principles, especially WBG devices like GaN and SiC. - Hands-on familiarity with lab equipment, benchtop instrumentation, and reliability stress tools. - Proficiency in data analysis and programming tools including Python, MATLAB, JMP, or Excel. - Familiarity with industry standards including JEDEC and AEC-Q101.
