About the role
This role involves supplier engineering and technology management for surface treatment processes including anodization and plating. You will develop global supplier capabilities and quality to support high-volume manufacturing (HVM) for semiconductor equipment components.
What you'll do
- Lead cross-functional teams across business development, engineering, manufacturing, process engineering, field service, and suppliers from new product development launch to production release.
- Coordinate development activities with suppliers and product groups while mentoring commodity supplier engineers.
- Implement process control and six sigma techniques to improve production efficiencies, quality, and first pass yield through continuous improvement plans (CIP).
- Review, enhance, develop, and sustain processing methods applied in product manufacturing to reduce production costs and increase yields.
- Lead projects focusing on innovative concepts for process development, automation, and portability.
What you'll need
- Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related field with 12+ years of experience, or a PhD with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Strong foundation in surface treatment processes such as anodization, plating, electrochemistry, and precision cleaning principles.
- Hands-on experience with plating chemistry formulations.
- 10 years of experience in a similar role with exposure to surface treatments or plating in HVM.
- Demonstrated project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- Familiarity working in a laboratory and on semiconductor equipment with surface preparation and analytical techniques.
- In-depth understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Experience with statistical analysis tools such as JMP or Minitab.
- Background in Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD), or Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD).
- Knowledge of material synthesis and material characterization.
- Experience in semiconductor process design, deposition, etch dielectrics, conductors, or metal films.
Skills: surface treatment, anodization, plating, electrochemistry, SPC

How we counted: 1025 open Process Engineering (Semiconductor Process) roles from 57 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 4 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
