About the role
Perform technical tests and experiments supporting process engineering within R&D, operating cleanroom processing and metrology equipment in Aurora, IL. You will execute chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) test runs on Mirra and Reflexion systems, collect and analyze data, and prepare summaries to evaluate process performance and test new products.
What you'll do
- Own experiment-preparation activities, including wafer preparation, thickness and defect measurements, log-sheet preparation, and recipe programming.
- Set up and operate CMP polishers, including Mirra and Reflexion systems, as well as wafer-cleaning and metrology equipment.
- Conduct polishing experiments using blanket and patterned wafers in accordance with defined experimental plans and cleanroom procedures.
- Perform process and equipment troubleshooting during experiments, identifying potential sources of polishing variation.
- Collect experimental data, perform preliminary analysis, and prepare records, charts, graphs, and experiment summaries for engineers and scientists.
- Assist with the evaluation and process development of new cleanroom tools, including polishers, metrology systems, and cleaning equipment.
What you'll need
- Experience working on engineering projects, or equivalent relevant technical experience.
- Ability to operate wafer-metrology equipment and accurately interpret measurement results.
- Ability to interpret CMP polishing end-point traces.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Availability to work second shift (2 pm to 10 pm, Monday-Friday) and support the operating schedule and experimental needs of the cleanroom.
Nice to have
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical field.
- Knowledge of and hands-on experience with chemical mechanical planarization (CMP).
- Defectivity-metrology experience.
- Experience with JMP, Minitab, SAS, or similar statistical-analysis software.
