About the role
This role owns system-level testing of wireless products, defining and executing test plans across FPGA prototypes, evaluation boards, and silicon while driving testability into early design. You will operate across both strategic planning and hands-on lab environments, utilizing shield rooms and sniffer captures to validate MAC and networking performance.
What you'll do
- Define system test plans covering function, performance, stress, and regression with clear entry and exit criteria derived from requirements and specifications.
- Execute test campaigns on FPGA prototypes, evaluation boards, and silicon, driving failures to root cause with software, firmware, and hardware engineers.
- Drive testability into designs early by defining logging, test modes, debug hooks, and instrumentation in firmware and FPGA builds.
- Validate MAC behavior and networking features, including association, security, power save, aggregation, QoS, rate adaptation, multi-link operation, mesh, and throughput under load.
- Design and operate conducted and over-the-air lab setups utilizing shield rooms, attenuators, signal generators, sniffers, and multi-node mesh topologies.
- Write and maintain test scripts and automation frameworks in CI, incorporating AI coding tools to generate, review, and extend test code.
What you'll need
- 10–15 years of experience in system test, validation, or verification of embedded or wireless products, including leading test planning for a program or team.
- Track record of writing system test plans from requirements and running them through to closure.
- Hands-on expertise setting up wireless sniffers and analyzing packet captures (such as Wireshark or OmniPeek) to debug protocol behavior.
- Hands-on experience with shield room and RF enclosure testing across conducted and over-the-air setups.
- Test scripting proficiency in Python or a similar language, including building reusable test frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing AI tools to generate test cases, write and refactor automation, and analyze logs.
- Experience testing alongside software engineers on FPGA-based prototypes, including log analysis, debug consoles, and build-and-flash workflows.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
- Domain knowledge of Wi-Fi (802.11ax/be), Bluetooth (Classic and LE), or cellular (LTE, 5G NR), including radio coexistence.
- Experience testing MAC layer and networking features such as multi-link operation, OFDMA scheduling, power save, roaming, and WPA3 security.
- Hands-on experience with signal generators, signal analyzers, channel emulators, and programmable attenuators.
- Experience building and testing networking topologies including mesh, multi-AP, and multi-client setups with interference scenarios and traffic tools like iperf.
