About the role
As a member of the Architecture Energy Modeling Team, you will study and implement energy modeling techniques for GPUs, CPUs, and Tegra SOCs. The role focuses on evaluating energy usage across graphics and AI workloads to guide improvements in architecture, design, and power management.
What you'll do
- Define and implement tools and methodologies for data generation from post-layout netlists to feed data movement power analytical models.
- Develop tools and infrastructure to sanitize model metrics and achieve correlation accuracy.
- Build tools and workflows for integrating power models with performance tools.
- Identify runtime and memory limitations of existing flows to speed up model delivery.
- Mine data from pre- and post-silicon performance runs to identify data paths, bottlenecks, and power efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with floorplan, performance, verification, and emulation teams to integrate data movement power models.
- Experiment with ML techniques to explore design alternatives and set power and energy targets.
- Enable storage, database retrieval, and visualization using platforms such as PowerBI and OpenSearch.
What you'll need
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience (completed or in progress).
- Coding skills in Python or C++.
- Understanding of algorithm formulation, analysis, runtime, and memory complexities.
- Knowledge of VLSI, digital design, and computer architecture concepts.
- Understanding of power and energy consumption fundamentals, estimation, and low power design.
- Familiarity with the chip design flow from RTL design to tape-out.
Nice to have
- Background in machine learning, AI, or statistical modeling.

How we counted: 469 open SoC/Chip Architecture (SOC Architecture) roles from 66 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 31 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Digital Design & Verification family row.
