About the role
AMD is hiring an MTS Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing. The role oversees ASIC development from architecture and logic design through synthesis, place and route, timing, and power analysis.
What you'll do
- Oversee definition, design, verification, and documentation for ASIC development, determining architecture design, logic design, and system simulation.
- Define module interfaces and formats for simulation, leading the development of multidimensional designs involving complex integrated circuit layouts.
- Evaluate the complete process flow spanning high-level designs, synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop ASIC layout designs and resolve complex technical issues.
- Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria across projects of significant technical importance.
What you'll need
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, plus one (1) year of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
- One (1) year of design experience in sub-micron processes.
- One (1) year of experience implementing CPU/GPU architectures for PPA work.
- One (1) year of experience with power-analysis and measurement tools including Prime Power or Power-Artist.
- One (1) year of experience with high performance clocking and STA methodologies for timing closure and OCV.
- One (1) year of experience with scripting languages including Perl, Tcl, and Python, as well as logic, circuit design, and CAD tools for high-performance design CPU and/or GPU architecture.

How we counted: 723 open Physical Design (Physical Design) roles from 87 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 6 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Physical Implementation family row.
