About the role

This role involves engineering, quality, and metrology activities supporting manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work within onsemi's silicon carbide growth and fabrication facility.

What you'll do

  • Optimize, troubleshoot, and support metrology tools and inspection systems in manufacturing operations.
  • Perform measurement system analysis (MSA) studies for accuracy, repeatability, and reproducibility.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems for critical process parameters.
  • Conduct data analysis using Minitab and other analytical tools to identify trends, variation sources, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action activities for quality issues, defect escapes, and yield loss.
  • Drive defect screening improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction and yield enhancement.

What you'll need

  • B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline).
  • 3-7 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, quality, metrology, process engineering, or semiconductor operations.
  • Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capability analysis.
  • Experience conducting Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Gauge R&R studies.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, Control Plans, and risk analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with Minitab for statistical analysis, data visualization, and process improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949 requirements and quality management systems.
  • Experience with manufacturing quality systems and defect screening methods.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis tools including 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Why.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles including 5S and Kanban.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and organizational levels.
