About the role
As a Mechanical Engineer Intern at KLA, you will design and validate mechanical subsystems and tooling for semiconductor wafer inspection and metrology systems. Working within the e-Beam division, you will own a functional hardware design project from modeling through prototype testing.
What you'll do
- Design, model and document a functional subsystem for an e-beam tool, or tooling and fixtures that support tool build, alignment, test or service.
- Create 3D CAD models and production-ready 2D drawings using GD&T.
- Run engineering analysis, including tolerance stack-ups, structural, thermal, or vibration, to validate your design.
- Work with suppliers and the machine shop on prototypes, then assemble, test and iterate.
- Present your design and results to the engineering team at the end of the internship.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with less than 1 year of related experience.
- Foundation in mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.
- Hands-on build experience in a lab, design team, or personal projects.
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
