Electrostatic chucks (ESC) for plasma etch applications.
Originally posted 3 June 2026 by the employer. Relisted by the employer on 6 November 2026.
About the role
This role focuses on the design, analysis, and testing of advanced electrostatic chucks (ESC) for plasma etch applications. The position addresses complex thermal, mechanical, electrical, and materials challenges in semiconductor hardware.
What you'll do
- Develop and modify mechanical designs, including 3D models and engineering drawings, to resolve difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision.
- Define, coordinate, perform, and document engineering tests, analyze experimental results, and generate technical reports.
- Design, develop, and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes to support assembly, disassembly, and handling of parts, components, and sub-assemblies.
- Perform engineering analysis of difficult scope, including thermodynamics, material selection, and flow analysis.
- Technically lead or execute projects, generate product specifications, specify and review engineering documentation, and collaborate with key suppliers.
- Implement engineering concepts and build consensus across operational and manufacturing processes.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 4-7 years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, material selection, and manufacturing methods.
- Hands-on experience applying GD&T, flow analysis, and/or Design for Excellence principles.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with engineering simulation tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL Multiphysics, or similar FEA/CFD software.
- Experience with data analysis and engineering computation using tools such as Python, MATLAB, Excel, or equivalent.
- Experience with semiconductor equipment, vacuum systems, high voltage systems, or similar complex engineering environments.

How we counted: 1119 open Hardware Systems Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 110 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 6 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row. Figures refresh nightly.
