Design V&V hardware and software test solutions for silicon photonics-based 4D LiDAR sensors.
About the role
Aeva Technologies is seeking a Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer to focus on testing and quality assurance of LiDAR products. The position involves designing test solutions and analyzing datasets for 4D LiDAR sensors integrated onto silicon photonics chips.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and deploy V&V hardware and software test solutions, systems, and automated test fixtures for LiDAR sensor characterization and validation. - Implement and maintain test software architecture using Python for test automation, sensor data acquisition, and post-processing. - Design and develop controlled-environment test scenes containing objects at multiple range locations to characterize LiDAR systems. - Execute detailed test plans, protocols, and test cases covering functional, performance, reliability, and environmental criteria on LiDAR systems. - Process and analyze large datasets from testing activities to identify performance trends, system anomalies, and failure root causes. - Generate V&V reports, test documentation, and summaries for compliance and internal review.
What you'll need
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. - Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in Verification and Validation, Test Engineering, or Quality Assurance for complex hardware/software systems. - Experience working with electromechanical or optical systems. - Strong proficiency in Python for test scripting, automation, and data analysis. - Experience with data analysis techniques and tools for large datasets such as Pandas, NumPy, or MATLAB. - Familiarity with version control systems including Git, plus knowledge of measurement instruments and data acquisition hardware.
Nice to have
- System-level understanding of LiDAR systems, including optics, mechanics, signal processing, and embedded software. - Experience with LiDAR perception concepts such as point cloud processing and object detection, or other automotive sensor modalities like camera and radar. - Familiarity with industry standards for safety-critical systems, including automotive safety standard ISO 26262.
