IT Site Reliability Engineer — API Management Platforms
Apigee Edge private cloud environment, Cassandra, ZooKeeper, and enterprise DevOps automation platforms.
About the role
As an IT Site Reliability Engineer within the Enterprise Platforms team, you will serve as the primary technical platform owner for TI's Apigee Edge private cloud environment while providing platform SRE support across automation and DevOps tooling. You will be responsible for deploying, operating, and maintaining platforms supporting digital integration, CI/CD pipelines, artifact repositories, and automation orchestration.
What you'll do
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Apigee Edge private cloud components including Management Server, Router, Message Processor, Cassandra, ZooKeeper, Qpid, and Postgres across dev/test and production environments.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for Apigee-related incidents, lead root-cause analysis (RCA), and drive post-incident reviews (PIRs).
- Partner with development teams on API proxy deployment pipelines, policy troubleshooting, and runtime performance optimization.
- Enforce security hardening standards, manage TLS/SSL certificates, OAuth configurations, and role-based access controls (RBAC).
- Own and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures for Apigee Edge components and data stores including Cassandra, PostgreSQL, and ZooKeeper.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling using Python, Bash, Ansible, or Terraform across supported enterprise DevOps platforms.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with API management on Apigee or a similar API Management platform.
Nice to have
- Strong proficiency with Linux/Unix system administration (RHEL, Rocky, or similar).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Hands-on experience with Apigee Edge components: Management Server, Router, Message Processor, Cassandra, ZooKeeper, Qpid, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools: Elastic (ELK Stack), Splunk, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Apigee Certified API Engineer or equivalent certification.
