Test and evaluate laser modules and optoelectronic setups for co-packaged optics hardware.
About the role
As a Module Validation Intern in the laser validation group, you will inspect conformance to specifications and explore the operational limits of optical laser modules. The role focuses on testing production parts and development modules for co-packaged optics applications.
What you'll do
- Execute tests and validation experiments required to advance laser modules through product development gates.
- Subject production parts to validation testing to verify specification conformance and evaluate volume performance stability beyond standard operating ranges.
- Support testing and validation of engineering modules, including alternative laser sources developed across ongoing projects.
- Modify instrumental and mechanical test setups, including mechanical and optical alignment.
- Implement data acquisition software optimizations and perform test data analysis.
What you'll need
- Active enrollment in an M.S. or Ph.D. program in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or Optics.
- Completed foundational coursework in physics or engineering, covering topics such as electrodynamics, calculus, solid state physics, optics, or laser-related areas.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Demonstrated ability to complete assigned technical projects independently.
Nice to have
- Experience working in a research lab performing tests and using optoelectronic test setups.
