About the role
As a member of the RF Power Product Design team at the Morgan Hill Design Center, the GaN RF Power Amplifier Design Intern works alongside RF engineers on RF power device design for high-power GaN transistor products targeting Multi Market, Base Station, and 5G markets.
What you'll do
- Handle and bias RF devices, capture accurate RF data, and perform EM simulation. - Design an impedance matching network for an amplifier using MWO or ADS design software to match the device to a 50 ohm environment. - Layout the impedance matching network in AutoCAD. - Assemble, solder components, and tune the amplifier circuit on the RF bench. - Compare measured amplifier performance data against the design simulation. - Present project results and findings at an intern poster session.
What you'll need
- Educational background in electrical engineering, RF engineering, or a related discipline. - Experience with or coursework covering RF devices, biasing, and RF measurement fundamentals. - Familiarity with RF simulation tools such as ADS or MWO. - Familiarity with layout tools such as AutoCAD. - Hands-on interest in RF bench testing, soldering components, and circuit tuning.
