About the role
This role is for a Functional Safety (FuSa) Engineer to drive safety across silicon, hardware, and software for perception systems deployed in safety-critical robotics and automation. You will own safety work products from concept through certification.
What you'll do
- Lead functional safety activities per ISO 26262 across the product lifecycle.
- Develop safety concepts, HARA, FMEA/FMEDA, and FTA.
- Define and allocate safety requirements across silicon, hardware, and software.
- Collaborate with design teams to implement safety mechanisms and achieve diagnostic coverage.
- Support safety validation, verification, and audits.
- Maintain safety work products and documentation for certification.
What you'll need
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years in functional safety for automotive, industrial, or robotics systems.
- Working knowledge of ISO 26262 and/or IEC 61508.
- Experience with safety analyses (HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, FTA).
- Ability to derive and manage safety requirements across hardware and software.
- Strong systems thinking and cross-functional collaboration.
Nice to have
- ASIL-D hardware or software development experience.
- Semiconductor/SoC safety (safety island, diagnostics, lockstep) experience.
- SOTIF (ISO 21448) and/or cybersecurity (ISO 21434) awareness.
- Certified Functional Safety Engineer (or equivalent).
- Robotics, LiDAR, or autonomous systems background.
