About the role
This role leads all environmental, health, and safety activities at Coherent Corp's manufacturing facility in Sherman, TX, focusing on the site's EHS management system and programs.
What you'll do
- Lead the site Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System in alignment with Coherent standards, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and legal requirements.
- Manage occupational safety and industrial hygiene programs, including hazard and exposure assessments, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Manage environmental programs and permit compliance, including hazardous waste, stormwater, wastewater, and air permit-by-rule requirements.
- Own and manage the Toxic Gas Monitoring System (TGMS), including performance, alarm response, inspection, and maintenance.
- Lead the site OSHA Process Safety Management program and related high-hazard activities.
- Manage, coach, and develop the site EHS team.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Five or more years of EHS management experience in a manufacturing, chemical, research, or other high-hazard industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing EHS personnel and comprehensive EHS programs.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, Texas environmental requirements, and relevant industry standards.
- Experience with OSHA Process Safety Management in a covered manufacturing or high-hazard industrial facility.
- Experience with wastewater permit compliance and industrial wastewater operations.
- Experience with air permitting or air permit-by-rule compliance.
- Experience managing emergency response teams and hazardous materials emergency preparedness.
- Experience with radiation safety, laser safety, toxic gas monitoring systems, hazardous gases, or chemical handling.
- Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, hazard assessments, audits, inspections, and corrective action management.
Nice to have
- Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Environmental Professional, or other relevant professional certification.
- Master’s degree in a related discipline.
- Experience in advanced manufacturing, chemical processing, or MOCVD operations.
- Experience with EPA Risk Management Program requirements.
- Experience managing Toxic Gas Monitoring System projects or other critical safety system expansions.
- Experience working with corporate EHS teams in a global manufacturing organization.
