Lead the development of analog IP including oscillators, ADCs, DACs, PLLs, and power-management circuits for complex CMOS SoCs.
About the role
As Director of Analog Design in the Digital Business Unit, you will lead an analog design team developing critical analog IP for complex system-on-chip (SoC) products. The role combines technical depth with people leadership and execution to deliver oscillators, ADCs, DACs, PLLs, power-management circuits, and low-power architectures from concept through high-volume production.
What you'll do
- Lead an analog design team, setting priorities, coaching engineers, and owning resource allocation and career growth. - Own delivery of analog and mixed-signal IP for Digital Business Unit SoCs from architecture and specification through schematic design, verification, layout, characterization, qualification, and production release. - Direct the design of SoC functions including oscillators, clock references, ADCs, DACs, PLLs, power-management blocks, monitors, biasing, reset, and low-power control circuitry. - Drive system-level architecture and partitioning across analog and digital boundaries, balancing performance, power, area, cost, schedule, and manufacturability. - Partner with digital design, verification, physical design, systems, product, test, packaging, and firmware teams on interfaces, power intent, clocking, reset, calibration, trim, behavioral models, and silicon bring-up plans. - Guide IP reuse, design automation, and review practices across process, voltage, temperature, aging, mismatch, noise, and parasitic variation.
What you'll need
- Demonstrated experience leading and coaching a team of analog or mixed-signal IC designers. - Transistor-level design and mixed-signal integration expertise in CMOS SoCs, covering areas such as oscillators, ADCs, DACs, PLLs, clocking, references, regulators, or power management. - Expertise in low-power design, including power domains, power gating, sequencing, retention, standby/wake-up behavior, and dynamic supply transitions. - Mastery of SPICE-based simulation, statistical and corner analysis, noise and stability analysis, parasitic extraction, layout review, DRC/LVS, reliability, and design-for-test principles. - Experience delivering IP across multi-project SoC programs, managing milestones, dependencies, and risk closure. - Track record of supporting silicon bring-up, characterization, yield improvement, and root-cause failure analysis through production.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field. - Typically 15+ years of relevant analog IC design experience, including CMOS SoC development. - Prior direct people-management experience leading an analog design team, including managing senior technical contributors. - Experience with analog/digital interface definition, behavioral modeling, mixed-signal verification, physical-design collaboration, and top-level SoC integration. - Record of technical innovation shown through successful products, reusable IP, patents, or publications.
