This role involves developing complex mixed-signal ICs for Frequency Control, Clock Generation, and Timing applications.
About the role
This role involves developing complex mixed-signal ICs for Frequency Control, Clock Generation, and Timing applications, with a focus on circuits including phase-locked loops, sigma-delta modulators, ADCs, and various other mixed-signal circuits.
What you'll do
- Design, analyze, and implement analog/mixed-signal circuits and sub-systems, including schematic entry and simulation.
- Supervise physical layout.
- Develop and utilize system-level noise models to evaluate trade-offs.
- Create and use behavioral models for analog and mixed-signal circuit simulation.
- Verify circuit and chip-level operation and performance using transistor-level and behavioral models.
- Perform laboratory measurements and validation of ICs.
What you'll need
- Currently enrolled in M.S. or Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with analog and/or mixed-signal IC circuit design in a CAD environment.
- Strong knowledge of analog/mixed-signal circuit concepts, simulation, and testing techniques.
- Working knowledge of UNIX, Matlab, and circuit simulation tools.
- Competence in high-level languages (e.g. Matlab, C), scripting languages (e.g. Python, TCL, Perl, SKILL), and version control systems (e.g. Perforce, SVN, SOS).
Nice to have
- Prior industry experience in high speed Analog/Timing design.
- Experience/knowledge of analog/mixed-signal techniques used in clocking and timing ICs (e.g. PLLs, charge pumps, filters, VCOs, sigma-delta modulators, XOs, multi-format output drivers, system noise analysis, spur management, layout trade-offs).
- Experience with IO formats such as LVDS, LVPECL, LVCMOS, CML, HCSL.
- Knowledge of low-noise analog circuit techniques.
- Knowledge of low power design and implementation techniques.
- Knowledge of high-speed, high-performance analog/mixed-signal circuit design techniques.
- Experience with IC design at geometries ranging from 130-55 nm.
Skills: analog/mixed-signal IC circuit design, schematic entry, simulation, layout supervision, system-level noise models, PLLs
