Drive supplier and manufacturing quality execution for AI, cloud, and high-performance computing switch products.
Originally posted 30 October 2026 by the employer.
About the role
As a Switch Quality Engineer at AMD, you will drive supplier and manufacturing quality for switch products supporting AI, cloud, and high-performance computing solutions. You will partner across design, manufacturing, assembly, product testing, system integrators, and suppliers to manage quality execution from initial release through production ramp and full deployment.
What you'll do
- Drive supplier and internal technical teams across design, assembly, manufacturing, and testing through reviews of test plans, qualification results, failure rates, DFx, xFMEA, NUDD, and supplier-led failure analysis.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective action implementation utilizing 8D, 5-Why, statistical analysis, and industry-standard quality methodologies.
- Monitor factory and field nonconformance metrics, including manufacturing yield, first-pass yield excursions, hardware replacement rates, and field quality performance.
- Coordinate quality activities during NPI transitions and production ramp, focusing on part approval, process control, quality readiness assessments, and risk mitigation.
- Manage field and customer escalations as the primary quality interface with suppliers, driving containment, debug for hardware and firmware defects, and long-term resolution.
- Define switch supplier build report expectations, tracking quality metrics, yield monitoring, and escalation requirements while traveling to supplier locations for audits and reviews.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Deep technical expertise in networking hardware, switch systems, supplier quality, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies, 8D corrective actions, and statistical process control.
- Experience monitoring manufacturing metrics such as yield, first-pass yield excursions, and hardware failure rates.
Nice to have
- Experience applying DFx, xFMEA, NUDD, reliability testing, and failure analysis in hardware manufacturing.
- Technical understanding of switch architectures, merchant silicon switch architectures (Broadcom, NVIDIA, Marvell, or equivalent), AI fabric interconnects, or high-speed optical interconnects.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), design validation testing (DVT), qualification reviews, and production ramp.
- Experience working with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) and Contract Manufacturers (CMs) to establish quality requirements and scorecards.
- Experience utilizing analytics and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or JIRA.
