About the role
The Principal Product Engineer for BMS is responsible for the characterization, qualification, and high-volume manufacturing release of BMS ICs for automotive applications. This role acts as a link between design, test, applications, and quality assurance teams to verify that BMS ICs meet functional, performance, and reliability requirements throughout their lifecycle.
What you'll do
- Lead and manage the qualification of new BMS products, ensuring compliance with automotive standards such as AEC-Q100 for stress qualification, and oversee comprehensive product reliability plans.
- Develop and implement characterization plans to validate BMS IC performance across operating conditions, collaborating with design and test teams to create test programs for characterization and high-volume manufacturing.
- Apply advanced statistical analysis techniques to product data for process monitoring, yield optimization, test limit definition, and resolving reliability issues.
- Serve as the product expert for APQP activities—including FMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP documentation—and support ISO 26262 functional safety compliance via safety mechanism validation and fault injection testing.
- Lead cross-functional teams in analyzing customer returns and production test failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions using 8D methodology.
What you'll need
- BS or MS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- 12+ years of experience in product engineering with a strong analog circuit background.
- Familiarity with ATE tester platforms such as Teradyne J750 or Advantest 93K.
- Knowledge of analog and mix-signal circuitry, device physics, test methodology, and DFT.
- Experience with common lab test equipment (DC power supply, oscilloscope, multi-meters) and familiarity with JEDEC/AEC qualification standards and stress test conditions.
- Experience in yield management tools such as PDF Exensio and JMP to perform statistical analysis and data-driven issue isolation.
Nice to have
- Bench characterization experience.
- Experience with qualification hardware and software development.
- Knowledge of semiconductor failure analysis.
