About the role
This role focuses on the design, testing, and performance analysis of optical transceivers. You will work on modeling non-idealities and driving model-to-measurement correlation alongside photonic integrated circuit (PIC) and electronic integrated circuit (EIC) teams.
What you'll do
- Execute design and testing tasks for optical transceivers.
- Perform data analysis to determine key limiters of transceiver performance and characterize the mechanisms driving those metrics.
- Support modeling of transceiver non-idealities to achieve correlation between models and experimental measurements.
- Collaborate with Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) designers, Electronic IC (EIC) designers, and system engineering teams to deliver specification-compliant transceivers.
- Organize and present technical reports summarizing findings and performance results across teams.
What you'll need
- Current enrollment in a PhD program majoring in photonics, optoelectronics engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of optical transceiver design, fiber optics, RF modulation, and networking systems.
- Fundamental understanding of optical transceiver performance metrics, such as TDECQ and receiver sensitivity, including dependencies across optical, electrical, and thermal domains.
- Experience with measurement techniques and equipment for optical transceivers and systems, including sampling oscilloscopes, optical spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers.
- Experience with data analysis tools.
