About the role
This is a 6-month laboratory internship within the AI Integrated Systems team supporting the development and electrical characterization of AIPU (AI Processing Unit) boards. The position is based on-site in Florence, Italy, working directly in an R&D lab environment alongside hardware and test engineers.
What you'll do
- Execute voltage, current, power, signal integrity, and timing measurements on AIPU boards and associated hardware using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and DAQ systems. - Support the design, assembly, and configuration of test benches for board bring-up and validation activities. - Assist in collecting, organizing, and analyzing performance data to validate board behavior against specifications. - Contribute to the design of auxiliary and support boards, including schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer or KiCad. - Maintain laboratory equipment, track calibration schedules, and maintain inventory records for components, boards, and tools.
What you'll need
- Technical diploma (ITS or Perito Elettronico/Elettrotecnico) or equivalent. - Familiarity with basic electrical and electronic measurement principles and laboratory instrumentation. - Exposure to schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer and/or KiCad). - Basic knowledge of digital and analog electronics. - Familiarity with the Linux operating system and scripting languages. - Working proficiency in spoken and written English.
