About the role
This role develops, extends, and integrates specialized silicon validation and diagnostics tools for AI SoCs. You will work with existing Arm-developed diagnostics technologies and extend them to support Graphcore AI silicon across server and rack-scale validation environments.
What you'll do
- Extend existing Arm diagnostics tools and develop specialized diagnostics and stress-testing software for CPU, memory, interconnect, PCIe, and other platform components. - Develop diagnostics and stress tools that detect silent data corruption (SDC), timing-related issues, power transient stress, and hardware instability. - Build configurable, reusable validation utilities and libraries that integrate into the existing validation framework across multiple silicon revisions and platforms. - Design automation and configuration-driven diagnostics for execution across server and rack-scale validation environments. - Debug low-level hardware, firmware, operating system, and driver interactions while improving fault isolation methodologies. - Collaborate with hardware architects, firmware engineers, and validation teams to improve hardware observability and reproduce hardware failures.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - Strong software development skills in Python and C/C++. - Strong Linux systems experience. - Experience developing hardware diagnostics, system validation software, firmware validation tools, or low-level systems software. - Understanding of modern server platform architecture, including how CPU, memory, PCIe, storage, networking, firmware, operating system, and device drivers interact. - Experience debugging hardware and software interactions across server platforms, embedded systems, or SoC validation.
Nice to have
- Experience with Arm-based server platforms, AI accelerators, or high-performance computing systems. - Experience with Silent Data Corruption (SDC) testing, hardware stress testing, power transient analysis, or hardware fault injection methodologies. - Experience with firmware validation, BMC firmware, server management, or silicon bring-up. - Knowledge of performance characterization, hardware telemetry, observability, and RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) technologies. - Subsystem validation experience across CPU scaling, cache behavior, memory (DDR/HBM) bandwidth and latency, interconnect contention, and PCIe/high-speed I/O throughput.

How we counted: 436 open Post-Silicon Validation (Silicon Validation) roles from 63 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 23 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Silicon Validation & Test family row.
