About the role
The Staff Product Engineer joins the Integrated Voltage Regulators (IVR) Business Unit to own device characterization and datasheet development from first silicon through production release. This role converts product requirements into defensible electrical specifications, builds automated characterization benches, and partners with test engineering to carry verified limits into wafer sort and final test.
What you'll do
- Define and execute device-characterization plans across input voltage, output voltage, load, temperature, and process corners, including skew lots and specification traceability.
- Measure efficiency, regulation, ripple and noise, load-transient response, protection behavior, integrated magnetics, and thermal performance.
- Specify, build, automate, and maintain low-voltage, high-current characterization benches utilizing Python and Git-based test-automation frameworks.
- Own the product datasheet end to end, defining electrical specification tables, test conditions, typical performance curves, and timing diagrams.
- Partner with test engineering on ATE coverage, production limits, guardbands, known-good-die strategy, and bench-to-ATE correlation at wafer sort and final test.
- Define production trim, calibration, and configuration flows, while supplying characterization data for qualification, reliability, yield improvement, and root-cause failure analysis.
What you'll need
- BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with at least 5 years of semiconductor product engineering, characterization, or validation experience with power-management ICs, DC-DC converters, or power modules.
- Demonstrated understanding of switching regulators, converter control and stability, and analog and mixed-signal circuit behavior.
- Hands-on experience with low-voltage, high-current bench characterization using oscilloscopes, differential and current probes, precision meters, electronic loads, and temperature-forcing systems.
- Proficiency in Python for instrument automation and data analysis, combined with version control using Git.
- Experience applying statistical analysis to characterization data, including distributions, process capability, and guardbanding using JMP or equivalent tools.
- Working knowledge of ATE, wafer sort, final test, production-test limits, and bench-to-ATE correlation, alongside authorship of a released electrical datasheet.
Nice to have
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on power electronics, analog circuits, or semiconductor devices.
- Experience with integrated voltage regulators, multiphase buck regulators, power stages, or low-voltage, high-current power delivery for processors and accelerators.
- Experience characterizing integrated or on-package magnetics and capacitors.
- Experience with PDN and power-integrity tools (Ansys Q3D, SIwave, Cadence Sigrity, Keysight ADS) and thermal tools (Ansys Icepak, COMSOL, Simcenter Flotherm, Cadence Celsius).
- Circuit-simulation experience using SIMPLIS, SIMetrix, LTspice, or PLECS, correlating simulation models with physical measurements.
- Experience with PMBus, I2C/SMBus, or I3C protocols, including register configuration, telemetry, fault reporting, trim, and non-volatile memory programming.
- Experience developing or debugging ATE programs, load boards, probe cards, sockets, handlers, and known-good-die test solutions.
Skills: characterization, datasheet, switching regulators, ATE correlation, wafer sort, JMP

How we counted: 39 open Product Engineering (Power Management) roles from 15 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 8 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Silicon Validation & Test family row.
