About the role
As a Staff Platform Engineer within the Engineering Platform Services team, you will own technical deliveries from requirements through planning, implementation, and operations. You will develop scalable platform services and self-service capabilities that simplify engineering workflows and support hardware and software engineering teams.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, test, and operate APIs and platform services. - Build Kubernetes operators and automation that enable self-service engineering workflows. - Deploy and operate reliable, secure, and scalable workloads across cloud environments. - Use Terraform to provision and manage cloud infrastructure as code. - Integrate platform services with engineering tools including GitLab, Backstage, and Artifactory. - Participate in production support and a paid on-call rota for high-impact incident response.
What you'll need
- Extensive knowledge of cloud services, with experience running production workloads in AWS or another major cloud platform. - Strong software engineering experience using Go, Python, or similar languages. - Experience designing, developing, testing, and operating APIs and backend services. - Practical knowledge of Terraform and infrastructure as code. - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, and CI/CD technologies. - Understanding of software engineering practices, including automated testing, code review, observability, and secure development.
Nice to have
- Experience developing Kubernetes operators or controllers. - Knowledge of GitLab internals, administration, APIs, and integrations. - Familiarity with software supply-chain security and SAST tooling. - Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering, incident management, and production support.
