About the role
As the Staff Applications Software Engineer at Ambiq, you will work with architecture, design, validation, sales, software engineering, and field teams to demonstrate the low-power advantages of Ambiq's SoC portfolio. You will develop power estimation and measurement tools, support characterization for system use cases, and optimize customer SoC power efficiency across Cortex-M MCUs, AmbiqSuite, and Zephyr.
What you'll do
- Develop power-related example applications, tools, and documentation in collaboration with product marketing, field engineering, validation, software development, and system test teams.
- Support power optimization across AmbiqSuite and Zephyr SDK offerings, characterizing SoC and system power use cases.
- Design, debug, port, and analyze embedded microcontroller software drivers, algorithms, application code, board support packages, automated scripts, and test cases.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to analyze and debug complex system-level software issues and create customer-facing documentation, including application notes and software design guidelines.
- Assist customers with Ambiq SDKs and hardware platforms, serving as a technical bridge between field and engineering teams.
- Collaborate with hardware engineering on the architecture, testing, and debugging of hardware evaluation platforms.
What you'll need
- BS in ECE/CS with 8+ years of experience, or an MS in ECE/CS with 6+ years of experience.
- Experience developing embedded MCU code in C for Cortex-M microcontrollers.
- Hands-on experience developing embedded systems in real-time environments, bare-metal systems, and real-time operating systems.
- Experience optimizing power efficiency in consumer electronics and IoT applications.
- Experience with at least one MCU IDE such as ARM, Keil, IAR, or SEGGER.
- Familiarity with MCU peripherals including SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, USB, I2S, and PDM.
Nice to have
- Experience with Zephyr.
- Familiarity with MIPI and USB interfaces.
