Architect and deliver digital hardware for ultra-low-power MCUs and SoCs featuring ARM-based subsystems and AMBA interconnects.

About the role

Ambiq Micro is seeking a Sr. Staff SoC RTL Engineer to architect, design, and deliver digital hardware across the full silicon lifecycle, from microarchitecture and RTL development through tapeout and silicon bring-up. The position focuses on ultra-low-power MCUs and SoCs powering connected sensors, wearables, and edge devices.

What you'll do

- Define the microarchitecture of digital SoC modules and subsystems, and develop production-quality RTL using Verilog and SystemVerilog. - Own complex blocks from initial specification through pre-tapeout signoff and design closure. - Integrate internal and third-party IP into MCU and SoC platforms, including ARM-based CPU subsystems and AMBA-based interconnects (AHB, APB, AXI). - Partner with verification engineers on test planning, debug, and coverage closure, and collaborate with Physical Design teams on timing, power, and area issues. - Run, analyze, and resolve LINT, CDC, and RDC violations across digital designs. - Implement low-power design techniques such as clock gating, power management, and efficient data movement, while supporting FPGA prototyping and silicon bring-up.

What you'll need

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. - 8+ years of hands-on ASIC or SoC RTL design experience. - Verilog and SystemVerilog development skills with ownership of complex digital blocks, IPs, or subsystems. - Experience creating or contributing to architecture and microarchitecture specifications. - Understanding of front-end ASIC development, including synthesis, timing, LINT, CDC, and RDC. - Familiarity with ARM-based SoCs, CPU subsystems, or AMBA protocols such as AHB, APB, or AXI, along with experience supporting tapeout, silicon bring-up, or post-silicon debug.
