Sr SSPA Applications Engineer

About the role

Skyworks is seeking a Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) Applications Engineer to join the Defense & Aerospace High-Power RF Solutions (HPRF) team. This role serves as the technical bridge between customers and the SSPA design engineering organization to translate requirements into RF solutions.

What you'll do

• Serve as the primary technical interface between customers and the SSPA design engineering team.
• Support customer inquiries related to SSPA performance, integration, operation, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate customer application requirements and recommend appropriate solid-state power amplifier solutions.
• Support proposal efforts, technical reviews, customer presentations, trade shows, and customer visits.
• Analyze RF performance data, communicate results to stakeholders, and develop application notes and technical documentation.
• Gather customer feedback and market requirements to guide product roadmaps and product enhancements.

What you'll need

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 5+ years of experience, MS with 3+ years, or PhD with an SSPA Design focus.
• 5+ years of experience in RF/microwave engineering, RF power amplifiers, or applications engineering.
• Solid understanding of RF and microwave fundamentals including gain, power, efficiency, linearity, and impedance matching.
• Hands-on experience with RF power amplifier systems and SSPA technologies.
• Proficiency with RF test equipment including vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and oscilloscopes.
• Familiarity with RF simulation tools such as ADS, AWR, HFSS, CST, or equivalent.
• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, SATCOM, radar, electronic warfare, or communications applications.
• Ability to travel up to 25% and US Person status to work on US Government contracts.
