About the role
Ayar Labs is seeking an intern in photonics multiphysics design to solve thermal and multiphysics challenges on an EIC-PIC process and packaging platform. The role uses electromagnetic, thermal, and charge-transport simulations to support co-packaged optics development.
What you'll do
- Execute electromagnetic, thermal, and charge-transport simulations on an EIC-PIC process and packaging platform.
- Close the loop between simulation and silicon by analyzing validation data.
- Study interactions between packaging, firmware, and device physics, including ring-heater thermals.
- Feed empirical validation findings into future design submissions.
- Collaborate with the team using structured code bases in Python.
What you'll need
- Active enrollment in a PhD program in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline with a photonics specialization.
- Proficiency with Python, including experience writing structured code within a collaborative team codebase.
- Deep understanding of photonic devices, including couplers, photodetectors, electro-optic modulators, micro-ring resonators, and gratings.
- Experience with simulation and design tools for passive and active optical devices, such as FDTD and charge transport.
