About the role
This role leads a global team of power system architects and engineers responsible for infrastructure and server/datacenter power solutions across the 1 to 250 kW range.
What you'll do
- Own the technical strategy and portfolio of power electronics system architectures (1 - 250 kW), aligning with electrical performance, reliability, safety, scalability, and cost requirements.
- Lead, coach, and develop a global team of power system architects and engineers, managing resource allocation, hiring, and career development across Proof-of-Concept and reference-design programs.
- Provide technical and managerial oversight from architecture and simulation through schematic implementation, PCB layout reviews, system validation, and customer enablement.
- Influence Renesas product and technology roadmaps by converting market insights and customer requirements into defined product specifications.
- Partner with chip design, applications, software, product marketing, business development, sales, and external customers on architecture integration.
- Lead system-level trade-off analyses covering efficiency, power density, thermal design, Bill of Materials (BOM), manufacturability, and EMC/EMI mitigation.
What you'll need
- MSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience in power-system and power-electronics architecture, design, and development across the 1 - 250 kW range.
- Proven direct management experience leading and developing engineers or system architects in a global, matrixed organization.
- Deep experience in power-supply architectures for communication infrastructure, datacenters, traditional servers, and AI servers.
- Expert knowledge of power-conversion topologies (AC-DC, inverter, isolated DC-DC converters, LDO, buck, boost, buck-boost), magnetics, control theory, protection, and discrete power devices (MOSFET, IGBT, GaN, SiC).
- Substantial experience with wide-bandgap devices (GaN and SiC) and evaluating their system-level implementation trade-offs.
- Strong understanding of simulation tools including MATLAB Simulink, SIMetrix/Simplis, and SPICE.
- Hands-on understanding of schematic design, PCB layout, thermal management, safety, and EMC/EMI mitigation for high-power systems.
Nice to have
- PhD in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Direct engagement experience with hyperscale customers or platform partners.
- Evidence of broader technical impact, such as patents, publications, standards participation, or conference contributions.
