Originally posted 18 October 2026 by the employer.
About the role
As a Sr. Manager, Data Science in the Smart Manufacturing & Artificial Intelligence (SMAI) organization, you will lead a team of about 20 data scientists and data science managers. The team builds analytics, machine learning, and agentic-AI solutions to directly support DRAM and HBM yield ramps, process integration, and photolithography operations.
What you'll do
- Set objectives, allocate resources across projects, and coach managers and individual contributors on technical execution and career development.
- Define the data science roadmap, establish technical standards, and guide technical direction across deep learning and generative AI.
- Scope and convert manufacturing yield-ramp and output challenges into deployed data science projects with measurable return.
- Partner with PIE, PEE, photo SEAL, and global manufacturing sites on strategic priorities and project roadmaps.
- Recruit, develop, and retain data science talent while establishing practices for technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
What you'll need
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in data science and machine learning with a track record of deploying production ML or AI solutions delivering measurable business impact.
- Prior direct people management experience supervising data scientists or engineers, including hiring and performance management.
- Expertise in deep learning and generative AI, supported by foundations in statistics, data engineering, and MLOps.
Nice to have
- Experience in yield enhancement, defect analysis, probe, metrology, photolithography, or process control.

How we counted: 490 open AI/ML Hardware Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 77 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 30 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
