About the role
The Central Technology Machine Learning (CTML) Content and Algorithm team conducts in-depth analyses of AI models on Arm computing platforms and devises algorithms to run AI on Arm architecture. You will support joint development across hardware, software, and ML algorithms to balance performance, power, and area constraints across CPU, GPU, and NPU platforms.
What you'll do
- Develop an in-depth understanding of current and future ML/AI workloads on Arm compute platforms with a focus on PPA (performance, power, and area).
- Collect and analyze ML/AI technology trends and use cases to inform ML/AI workload support throughout Arm IP development.
- Develop hardware-aware optimization algorithms to run AI models on Arm platforms, including CPU, GPU, and NPUs.
- Build internal tooling capabilities to support algorithmic and architecture exploration.
What you'll need
- Master's or PhD degree (held or on track to complete by the programme start date) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience developing and working with software systems in programming languages like Python, alongside knowledge of hardware and software design.
- Experience training and deploying ML/AI models using deep learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong technical communication skills.

How we counted: 506 open AI/ML Hardware Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 76 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 29 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
