Focus on GaN device testing and characterization.
About the role
This role involves direct high-voltage/low voltage GaN device testing, characterization, and the development of gate-drive solutions. You will be instrumental in designing and validating Evaluation boards for customer enablement and internal demonstrations.
What you'll do
- Perform high-voltage/low voltage GaN device testing and characterization, including double pulse testing (DPT) and short-circuit testing.
- Define and optimize gate-drive solutions, including gate resistance selection and protection features.
- Design, build, and validate Evaluation (EVAL) boards.
- Develop high-quality Application Notes, design guides, and technical documentation.
- Perform device- and system-level simulations using LTspice/SIMetrix/PLECS.
- Conduct hands-on lab work using oscilloscopes, high-voltage probes, and power analyzers.
What you'll need
- 4-7 years of hands-on experience in power electronics design and applications.
- Direct experience in high voltage/low voltage semiconductor testing and characterization.
- Experience with power electronics schematic and PCB design.
- Knowledge of GaN devices, gate drivers, and isolation technologies.
- Proficiency with LTspice, SIMetrix, PLECS, and PCB design tools such as Altium.
- Hands-on experience in high-voltage lab environments.
Nice to have
- Understanding of AI data center power architectures, including front-end AC/DC and back-end DC/DC stages.
- Understanding of advanced power topologies such as totem-pole, interleaved PFC, LLC resonant converters, and Dual Active Bridge (DAB).
- Experience with AI data center power systems.

How we counted: 53 open Power Electronics (Power Conversion) roles from 24 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 21 Sept 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Analog & Mixed-Signal family row.
