$140,000 - $160,000 USD yearly
About the role
This role involves building and running the computing environment for engineers to design chips, primarily leveraging AWS with some local hardware integration. The focus is on moving workloads to the cloud and ensuring the platform supports chip development demands.
What you'll do
- Build and operate a dependable AWS platform for compute and data access, balancing performance, security, cost, and cloud/local system integration.
- Lead workload migrations from planning through production, ensuring smooth transitions without disrupting engineering work.
- Investigate and resolve problems that impact design work across the cloud platform and connected systems.
- Automate provisioning and routine operations to create a repeatable and maintainable environment.
- Collaborate with engineers to anticipate demand, ensure capacity, data access, and software licensing, and communicate constraints.
- Protect design data and maintain platform recoverability through access control, monitoring, and incident resolution.
What you'll need
- 7+ years building and operating production infrastructure, with at least 3 years of hands-on responsibility for AWS environments.
- Hands-on experience with semiconductor tools and workflows, including EDA software like Cadence, Mentor, and Synopsys, and cloud-based deployment.
- A track record of deploying or migrating compute-intensive workloads to AWS and supporting them in production.
- Ability to diagnose difficult problems in Linux-based environments and across cloud, network, and storage boundaries.
- Experience implementing and maintaining production infrastructure through code using Terraform or OpenTofu.
- Sound judgment in building and operating a secure AWS environment, balancing performance, reliability, and cost.
- Ability to translate engineering needs into workable solutions, implement them, and document decisions.
Nice to have
- Supporting chip-design or other engineering workloads, particularly those involving large compute jobs, shared data, and software licenses.
- Building an AWS environment that integrates with local infrastructure, including secure remote access for engineers.
