About the role
The Specialist, Machine Shop Facilities provides technical leadership and coordination for maintenance activities supporting machining assets, production equipment, and facility infrastructure. The role oversees safe work execution, equipment uptime, preventive maintenance plans, root cause analysis, and SAP work-order discipline.
What you'll do
- Provide technical direction and work coordination for maintenance technicians and outside service providers supporting Machine Shop and facility equipment.
- Set daily work priorities, schedule adherence, pass-downs, and verify completed corrective, preventive, and emergency repairs.
- Lead troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls, and machining equipment failures alongside Engineering, Production, and vendors.
- Validate repairs and ensure safeguards are restored before returning machinery to service.
- Maintain SAP work orders with accurate problem descriptions, labor and material usage, repair details, and failure tracking.
- Coordinate contractor work scope, permits, downtime windows, site requirements, and quality verification of completed tasks.
What you'll need
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Troubleshooting knowledge across electrical components, control panels, contactors, relays, motors, drives, sensors, automated motion systems, and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, ladder logic, mechanical drawings, and OEM manuals.
- Working knowledge of machine shop equipment such as CNC mills, lathes, drill presses, band saws, and grinders.
- Experience utilizing SAP PM or a comparable computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, materials, and equipment history.
- Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders, work in variable environments, and safely lift 50 pounds while wearing required PPE, along with the ability to pass a pre-employment physical.
- Capacity to comply with federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control laws.
Nice to have
- Technical degree, apprenticeship, or industrial maintenance certification.
- Five or more years of progressive industrial maintenance experience, including leading complex repairs or coordinating maintenance work.
- Experience with high-temperature furnaces, vacuum systems, plant cooling water systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
